On March 18 and 19, CHC members traveled to Sacramento to meet with members of the legislature.

On Tuesday, CalHFA Executive Claudia Cappio and California TCAC Executive Director Bill Pavao met with the group to give updates on their respective organizations. Assemblymember Ed Chau, Chair of the Assembly Housing and Community Development Committee, and Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson, author of SB 1203, spoke to the group about their pending legislation on PILOT agreements. Finally, a three-member panel of staff from both houses gave their predictions on what this year would bring for housing policy.

On Wednesday, the group headed to the Capitol building and met with close to 30 legislators and their staff to discuss critical issues to CHC members including:

  • Creating a permanent source of funding for affordable home development
  • Protecting the welfare exemption for affordable homes
  • Making housing a priority in any future tax increment finance tool
