CHC entered into a joint venture collaboration in January 2006 with Housing California, a Sacramento-based housing organization comprised of non-profit housing development and social services organizations, known as HOMES4CA.ORG; this is a 501(c)4 campaign entity that is approved to raise money for and lobby on behalf of specific legislation in California; YES on PROP 1C was the campaign-specific entity of HOMES4CA.ORG that in the summer and fall of 2006 co-directed the passage of a $2.85 billion general obligation housing bond, the largest ever in the United States; the bond measure not only sustains existing programs service homeless and very-low income households in shelter and supportive service rental housing but also first-time homebuyer programs and unprecedented catalytic funding for infill and transit-oriented development, parks and housing-related infrastructure, as well as funding for an acquisition loan program and matching funds for local housing trusts.
