Affordable housing providers closely monitoring Los Angeles fire impacts on residents and properties — pledge to support recovery efforts to ensure housing access for the most vulnerable
SACRAMENTO – The California Housing Consortium issued the following statement today amidst the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles, which have devastated neighborhoods across the city, destroyed thousands of homes, and caused the evacuation of affordable housing properties.
The following statement can be attributed to Ray Pearl, Executive Director, California Housing Consortium:
“The ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles are a horrific tragedy — devastating the lives of people across the region and giving us all an opportunity to step up, watch out for our neighbors, and offer help and assistance where we can. Affordable housing providers are closely monitoring the spread of these fires and have acted quickly to evacuate properties when necessary to ensure residents’ safety. CHC and our members stand ready to work with emergency services to support those displaced by the fires and to connect them with the services they need. We also pledge to assist state and local officials in the aftermath of this disaster to ensure recovery efforts allow the most vulnerable residents of Los Angeles continued access to safe, affordable housing.”
