California Housing Consortium Applauds Governor Newsom’s Focus on Solutions to State’s Housing Crisis
Sacramento, CA – The California Housing Consortium (CHC) released the following statement from Executive Director Ray Pearl following Gavin Newsom’s issuance of two executive orders aimed at immediately addressing the state’s housing crisis:
“The California Housing Consortium welcomes the leadership of Governor Gavin Newsom, a partner in the Governor’s office who has set out from Day One of his administration to offer solutions to a housing challenge that threatens our state’s people and our economic progress.
“The Californians who shared their stories of facing homelessness, enduring long commutes and strain on their families show clearly why Governor Newsom warned, ‘the California Dream is in peril unless we address this issue.’
“We look forward to working with the Newsom Administration and the Legislature to build on the voter-approved investments of Propositions 1 and 2 and accelerate the development of affordable homes for Californians.”
