Building on the voter-approved investments of Propositions 1 and 2, CHC is pursuing legislation this year that will accelerate the development of affordable homes for Californians and remove barriers that hamper production in communities that need affordable housing the most. With this strategic mix of solutions, we can provide a stable path forward to help every Californian have a safe, affordable home.
Please support the following CHC Priorities:
- AB 10 (Chiu) – CHC continues to co-sponsor legislation by Asm. Chiu to increase the allocation of state low-income housing tax credits. This bill will leverage federal 4% credits and tax-exempt bonds to create thousands of new low-income homes each year. In his January budget, Governor Newsom indicated support for expanding this program, so we are hoping to negotiate this bill’s provisions into a budget trailer bill.
- AB 1484 (Grayson) – Co-sponsored by CHC, this bill would prohibit local agencies from imposing any additional fees on a housing development project after the project application has been accepted as complete.
- AB 1743 (Bloom) – Sponsored by CHC, this bill would exempt affordable housing developments from being subject to Mello-Roos Community Facility District Fees.
- AB 1763 (Chiu) – Sponsored by CHC, this bill would reduce barriers to developing affordable housing units by creating an enhanced density bonus for 100% affordable housing developments
