AB35 Sample Support Letter

Late last week, AB 35 (Chiu and Atkins) was amended to expand the low-income housing tax credit by $100 million annually, with a five-year sunset. The bill passed the Senate with strong, bi-partisan support and the Assembly agreed to the amended bill with a unanimous vote. The bill is now on Governor Jerry Brown’s desk.

Your engagement in our legislative effort is the reason AB 35 passed both houses of the legislature with such strong support. Thank you.

With nearly 250 bills on Governor Brown’s desk, we still have our work cut out for us. The Governor needs to hear from each one of our organizations that AB 35 is crucial for builders to make a dent in California’s severe shortage of affordable homes. At the same time, we want to emphasize that AB 35 will create thousands of jobs across California and deliver important benefits for the education, health, and public safety of California communities.

The Governor’s deadline to sign or veto bills is October 11, but a decision could come at any time. That’s why it is critical that your organization send a support letter (AB35 Sample Support Letter) today.
