Read CHC Executive Director Ray Pearl’s comments from today’s joint hearing of the Senate Transportation and Housing Committee and the Assembly Housing and Community Development Committee , delivered during the public testimony portion of the hearing:

“The California Housing Consortium represents affordable housing providers throughout the state. We are a “big tent” organization whose members include the San Diego Housing Federation and the Non Profit Housing Association of Northern California.

“We wish to be very clear: Redevelopment should be retained AND reformed. Redevelopment is the best system the state has to deliver affordable housing to the neediest Californians.

“We are willing to work with the Legislature and be a part of the solution. However, we hope that the focus can return to making RDAs more efficient and effective in order to continue delivering affordable housing. We sincerely hope that eliminating RDAs is NOT the outcome of this debate.”
