CHC needs your help to advance our sponsored bill, AB 115 (Bloom), which passed out of the Assembly Committee on Housing & Community Development yesterday—but faces another tough test on April 28 in the Assembly Committee on Local Government.

This legislation is one of the few substantive land use reform proposals moving through the Legislature this year. It has the potential to dramatically boost affordable housing production by allowing affordable development on some properties zoned for commercial uses.

Please send in a letter today to show your support! (The deadline for submittal is Thursday, April 22.)

In order to keep the bill moving, new language was added this week highlighting the importance of ensuring a skilled workforce is available to take on all of these new high-wage jobs. CHC agreed to these amendments, believing it is necessary to get to the win-win we are seeking with the Building Trades.

Labor remains opposed to the bill, however, and is working hard to kill it unless all of the “skilled & trained” workforce provisions they are seeking are included.

We need your help to keep this bill moving.

This legislation remains the only active land use reform bill that presents an opportunity to compromise with the building trades—and it is a vital part of the Legislature’s ongoing negotiations with labor.

We can’t afford to let this conversation stop here. Send in a support letter today—to keep this bill moving and to ensure affordable housing stays at the top of the Legislature’s agenda!
