Action Alert: SB 391 in Assembly Appropriations

Thanks to all your hard work, the California Homes and Jobs Act (SB 391) continues to move through the Assembly. On Friday, August 30th, the bill could be heard by the Assembly Appropriations Committee and put on the “suspense file.”

We did it! The the California Homes and Jobs Act just passed the Senate 27-12. Thank you to our CHC members and supporters for your last minute calls to Senators and to our HUGE coalition of over 600 endorsers – we could not have gotten it this far without you!

SB 1220 Passes Out of Senate Policy Committees!

Today SB 1220 passed out of the Senate Governance and Finance Committee with a vote of 5-2. The bill will next be heard in the Senate Appropriations Committee at the end of May. Thank you to all of our supporters and to Senator DeSaulnier and his staff!

SB 1220 Passes Out of Senate Transportation & Housing

SB 1220 passed out of the Senate Transportation and Housing Committee April 24th, 2012 with a vote of 6-2. The bill will be heard tomorrow in the Senate Governance and Finance Committee at 9:30am. After the amendments were refused, the bill with the urgency clause died on a 24-1 vote with all Republicans abstaining except for one. The California Housing Consortium Board of Directors voted today to support SB 654, authored by Senator Steinberg, which seeks to protect the crucial existing housing funds of dissolving redevelopment agencies. CHC’s support letter can be seen here.
